Bonaire
If wishes were fishes in spiraling tight schools
Circular swimming under waxing bright moons
Mouths wide agape
Iridescent colors aglow
Quickly rising unbidden from deep dark below
Streaming chrome blue
Fast winding procession
Steely eyed barracuda exuding unspoken aggression
Coral scraping beak
Yellow flash of a parrot
Clear endless indigo
Serenity quite apparent

Welcome to the Caribbean island of Bonaire.
Jed and Kim visited Bonaire for the second time in January of 1997. The first time we were there was in 1991 for our honeymoon. We met Jed's parents there and stayed at the Divi Famingo Beach Resort, where they have a timeshare. We went scuba diving every day and the water was clear and warm. There were some intense rain storms that blew through, but they were brief and caused numerous beautiful rainbows over the small uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire. Life was relaxed for the week we were there, diving 2 or 3 times a day, having happy hour while waiting for the green flash, opening fresh coconuts, watching the flamingoes and bananaquits (small yellow birds). The weather was around 80 degrees, which is what it is like all year round. Below are some activities captured for posterity, enjoy!
