T1 is
a “point-to-point” Internet connection method that transmits
data so rapidly- about one point four million bits per second, versus
33,000 for Dial-Up or 700,000 for DSL- that users can scarcely perceive
the download transition from page to page. As it uses an entirely
private, secure line, there are never any slow downs in transmission,
virtually no limit to how much data subscribers can upload or download,
and virtually no limit to how many simultaneous users can be included
within the subscriber’s Local Area Network.
The speed of a T1 connection offers users several advantages:
- It’s
ideal for videoconferencing. Every user within the Local Area Network can have a camera and microphone on his or her desk and up to 12 users can be simultaneously viewed on screen in a video connection.
-
It’s ideal for VOIP (voice over IP- long distance telephone calling without incurring long distance charges)
-
It’s ideal for multi-office companies that want to achieve full redundancy by saving and storing all data from every office to every office. This feature alone can justify the cost of T1 by replacing other storage solutions.
WebPerception recommends the T1 solution to companies
with multiple offices or locations who need to send vital data back and forth to one another, and who can afford the higher cost of this technology.
