Frequently Asked DSL Questions
Can I share my DSL line with other computers at my home or business?
What if I don't qualify for DSL right now?
DSL (Digital
Subscriber Line) is a technology for bringing high-bandwidth information to
homes and small businesses over ordinary copper telephone lines. xDSL refers to
different variations of DSL, such as ADSL, HDSL, and RADSL. DSL uses a
line-coding scheme that allows a fast connection between your home or business
and the telephone company's central office. DSL is 12 times faster than ISDN
and 45 times faster than 33.6Kbps analog modems! And there is no need to dial
up each time you want a connection - with DSL you are always connected enabling
continuous transmission of motion video, audio, and even 3-D effects.
More typically, individual connections will provide from 1.544 Mbps to 512 Kbps
downstream and about 128 Kbps upstream. DSL installations began in 1998 and
will continue at a greatly increased pace during 1999 in a number of
communities in the U.S. and elsewhere. Within a few years, DSL is expected to
replace ISDN in many areas and to compete with the cable modem in bringing
multimedia and 3-D to homes and small businesses. Dataquest, a market research
firm, forecasts 5.8 million lines installed by the end of the
century.
Can I share my DSL line with other computers in my home
or office?
Yes! You may share your DSL line with other computers in your home or business

Many ISP's offer lower prices to simply get your business. Here at WebPerception there
are no long waits for service, for technical support or for billing inquiries. Also be aware
that other Internet Service Providers (ISP's) providing DSL
service are charging less than WebPerception because they are OVERLOADING
THEIR CIRCUITS. Other ISP's are using a CIR- Committed Information Rate-
which is a guaranteed transfer rate that is much lower than you actually
subscribe and pay for! They can charge less because they are giving you less!!
By using WebPerception and paying only slightly more, you really get
what you pay for. WebPerception limits the number of subscibers per connection
to avoid overloading. If you don't believe this simply ask the
ISP if their circuit is overloaded and see what they say! We're not afraid if you ask
about us because our circuits are only an average of 60% untilized! Here is a
picture of last year's usage on one of our circuits here at WebPerception-
please note that 1600.0 k is FULL and our daily average is under 900.0
k: Better yet ask the ISP of your choice to provide their
statistics page and then compare! WebPerception offers WebPerception offers
